Frequently Asked Questions
Diversity makes the world go round, right? Every bride is looking for something a little bit different and every photographer has their own unique style and brand. This is why I try to meet with every client before booking; so I can get to know their needs and they can get to know me and my not-so-secret secrets. These are the questions I hear most frequently, so I thought I would compile them for easy viewing. Would you add any questions to the list? Comment below and I’ll answer them!
How long have you been in business?
I shot my first wedding in 2009 for a friend, straight out of college with my first DSLR. In hindsight, this is not a path I recommend to others, but it is part of my story now and I share it honestly. I spent the next two years perfecting my craft and officially put out my shingle in 2011. Since then I have shot over 30 weddings and second shot countless more.
Do you have a second shooter?
Though I shoot the majority of my weddings on my own, I work with a handful of great photographers who second shoot for me when the need arises.
What camera gear do you use?
To keep it brief, I shoot with professional grade Nikon cameras and high quality lenses. I bring my own lighting equipment to be prepared for every scenario and I have backup gear for my backup gear! Click here for a full post on my gear.
How would you describe your style?
I like to refer to my style as candid; I’m not traditionally photojournalistic in that I participate and am present in the wedding day, but my main goal is to capture the honest emotion and story of your wedding.
How many images will we receive?
Before I answer that, allow me to tell a story. On my wedding day, I had two photographers, a gorgeous venue and lots of handcrafted details that I loved every bit of. However, when I received my images, I found myself overwhelmed with nearly 2000 images. Since then, I’ve vowed to stick to the motto, “Less is More.” I feel like it’s my job to deliver only my best work, not your job to wade through ten images that make you feel like you’re playing one of those “Spot the Difference” comics. Now that that has been said, I deliver about 50-75 images per hour of coverage.
Do you shoot film or digital?
Though I have experience with film and have the utmost respect for film artists, my current shooting setup is all digital. One reason is the security; many professional digital cameras (mine included) have two card slots which allow for instant image backup. That decreases the likelihood of images getting corrupted and/or lost.
