Grace met Sam during their time at WashU, where they played on an intramural basketball team full of Lit majors. They laughed as they told me about their literary-themed jerseys with names like, “Jane Air” and “Dorian Trey.” It hasn’t been all fun and games, though. These two have worked hard in their demanding graduate programs and have continually watered the seed of their relationship and watched it grow over the years. Their wedding was a celebration of this commitment, incorporating their love of literature into the day as well.
After getting ready in their home, we held their first look in a secluded part of Forest Park. I love first looks and I’ll never apologize for it! Sam and Grace shared personalized vows and a private moment together before the whirlwind of the day took hold.
At Graham Chapel on the WashU campus, their guests were invited to take a book with their programs, with a clever “Ex Libris” on the inside cover to commemorate the day.
The book theme continued at the Stupp Center in Tower Grove Park. All the book sculptures, made by folding the pages in sequence, were a labor of love from much of Grace’s family.
Guests dined on food truck fare for a fun twist on wedding dining. The tacos from Mission Tacos were a hit and the Italian Subs from Gioia’s Deli were delizioso!
The two were sent off in style by their guests. A perfect end to the evening. Congratulations, Grace and Sam! Thank you for being your kind, affable and generous selves!
